Too easily deceived

Gen 3:6- And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat

One of the most well-known stories in the Bible is the story of Adam and Eve. Just two people living in paradise that made a mistake that would affect mankind forever. Many of you have probably thought many times about how easily deceived and unwise Eve had been when she took that first bite of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but have you ever thought of what you might have done in this situation? Would you have been like Eve?

  You might say that you would never be that easily deceived by Satan but I think that many, and probably unfortunately all of us would make the same mistake. Human nature is to constantly be wanting more, it is never satisfied or fulfilled. Adam and Eve lived in paradise; they had more than you could imagine, but yet they wanted the one thing they could not have. They did not learn to find full fulfillment in God.

Satan is a great deceiver and just like he deceived Eve he is also trying to deceive us everyday with the temptations of this world. He is constantly trying to distract us from the Lord and his will. He wants to get our eyes focused on this world. Eve was easily deceived. She let her flesh take control of her actions. The biggest mistake Eve made was that she began to focus on what she wanted instead of what God wanted.

   Once we find ourselves content with what God has given us we will be less tempted by the deceit of  Satan. Once we begin wanting more we become prey to Satan's wishes. Eve wasn't content with what she had. Never let the things you want make you forget the things that God has already given you.

Eve strayed from God's word. Instead of listening to God's word--"And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." She instead listened to the lies Satan told them-  "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." Once you get out of God's Word the world's pleasures will overcome you. Don't fall for Satan's deceiving ways like Eve did. Plant yourself deep in God's Word and be content in Him.
