Writing challenge

So I'm doing something new on here guys :) I'm going to start linking up to Tessa Hall's writing challenge (link to the challenge is on the image below)! So here we go....

http://christiswrite.blogspot.com/2014/06/mondays-minute-challenge-writing-prompt.html#comment-form

This week's challenge:
Write a passage incorporating this phrase: They told me not to come, which gave me all the more reason to go.

Train

They told me not to come, which gave me all the more reason to go. They're my friends. I'd never let them leave without a goodbye.
I stood at the train depot. The train's loud whistle filling my ears, and the smoke from the engine burning my eyes. My eyes roamed frantically for my friends. I saw tons of strangers roaming around but I didn't see them in the crowd. My heart began to pound in my chest fearing that I had missed them-my only chance to say goodbye. My feet swiftly began to carry me towards the train. And then through the smoke and crowds of people I saw them. The very sight of them brought relief to my heart. Daniel was standing by the train, his eyes scanning the crowd. I hoped he was looking for me but I wouldn't ever now. Beside him was Dianna. They were my closest friends.
 They were my everything.
"Daniel! Dianna!" I screamed. Running towards the train. They saw me and smiled.
Dianna embraced me tightly. I looked into her beautiful, dark eyes.
"It's not fair." I whimpered looking down at the star she had on her coat...the sign of the Jews.
"War is never fair." Daniel said softly.
"Hitler can not send you away." I cried out, "you deserve so much more."
The train whistle blew, it's sound piercing not only my ears but my heart.
"We must go." Daniel shouted over the sound of the whistle. "Never forget us." He said clasping his hand on mine.
"Never." I said tears in my eyes, "I'll never forget you. Never."

Hope you liked it guys :) In case you all didn't all ready catch it it's about WW11 and the Jews that were taken captive by Hitler and the Nazis. I've always had a huge interest in the history of the Holocaust and concentration camps and it saddens me so deeply of the great evil Hitler and the Nazis did. I just watched the movie "hidden in silence" yesterday and it just breaks my heart knowing that the Jews suffered so severely. But anyway just thought I'd share that. Hope you all are having a great week! I just got back from vacation and hopefully will be posting some pictures from it soon.

Sweet Dreams

/"Do you see that?" He whispered softly. His voice filled the silence in the room.
"See what?" I whisper trying not to awaken the girl.
"She's dreaming..." He says in a faraway voice.
I crinkle up my eyebrows in confusion, "How do you know?"
He looked at me. His eyes were a cloudy grey. His eyes were weary- he had suffered pain in life. But his eyes held on to something more. Hope.
He turned his eyes back on the girl. "Watch her." He said quietly. I turned my gaze onto the little girl. Her chest moved up and down evenly and her little arm clutched her stuffed pet. Her sweet little lips stood still. Her nostrils moving slightly with each breath. And then the girl smiled. The ends of her mouth turning up in a beautiful way. I smiled. "I see now. You say she's dreaming because she's smiling."
"No that's not why."
"Why then?"
"Because of the way she holds her pet. Softly yet with protection. If she was having a nightmare she'd be clutching it. If she was just sleeping she'd let it go. But she's dreaming. That means she needs her pet-not in fear but in love. We hold on to the ones we love."
I looked at the man in bewilderment, "You are different." I say. "You're not like the others here." I say gesturing to the group of homeless people around me.
"You're right." He says. He looks at me again. "I'm a dreamer. But I've had nightmares too. The difference between the two is in dreams you get to keep the people you love. In nightmares you loose them. But in both you still want to hold them close."
I nod. "I guess you are right."
The man stood up out of the old rickety seat he sat in. "I am. Don't ever under-appreciate the ones you love. You need loved ones to dream." and then he walked away. I could see his shoes; they were torn and dirty. I looked down at my own two feet. My shoes were the same. I looked around me at all the homeless people here. And I looked at us differently then I had before. We'd all lost something. Family. Friends. We'd had nightmares. But here we were still alive. Still hoping; still dreaming. Because we still had each other. And no matter how many nightmares knocked us down we'd stand up back together and just keep on dreaming.

Keep on loving.

I smiled to myself. Those man's words had been odd and unusual. But they were true. My eyes turned to the sweet girl still sleeping on the ground beside me."Sweet dreams my dear girl. Keep on loving. Keep holding on to hope. Keep on dreaming."

Writing update

So I just thought I'd share an update with you all about my writing.
Unfortunately I haven't got much done lately with the extreme business with the move but finally things are starting to slowly get back to normal =) I'm going to talk a little about the book I've been writing called Once upon a secret. Well I've been thinking about it and I've come upon the conclusion that I'm really not satisfied with the name. At first I thought it sounded really cool but know I kind of think it's a bit cheesy...so I'm going to share some new names I thought up and I'd also REALLY APPRECIATE it if you all commented with any suggestions you might have.

My new ideas

Silent Shadows

Behind the Walls

 Untold Secrets

Hidden away
Untold

and at the moment Untold is probably my favorite one. So for those of you who haven't heard what my book is about I'll just post a short summary:
Tess has always been a curious person always searching for adventure...and often jumping to conclusions. But when she gets the feeling that her parents are hiding something from her she starts to investigate...but what she finds out shatters her. Has her parents been lying to her about her past all these years? And now that their secrets out Tess is in a lot more danger than she realized. Her life, her friends, and the whole kingdom depend on just one story-that's never been told. And if it is told...then life as she knows it will be gone forever.

So anyway I've been working on this book for over a year and have had very little progress. My biggest dream would to be able to get this book published someday. But anyway I've also started on a new story idea (terrible I know...I shouldn't start something if I haven't finished another) but i'm pretty excited about this book idea! I plan on writing more of it after I'm finished with my current story. But I'll just give a brief summary about it also.
Book title: The Pegasus
About: Kendra's sister was kidnapped by pirates when she was only a young girl. One unsettling thought has always haunted her mind and nightmares- What if she's still alive? When she finally finds a way to sneak aboard a pirate ship-with the young sailor Garrett- they journey across the dangerous seven seas with hopes to find the ship that took her sister away- The Pegasus

For some odd reason I've always wanted to write a book about pirates, etc. so now i think I finally have a storyline to do one =) the only thing I'm worried about is that this book will probably need a lot of research (about ships, sailing, etc.) But I still plan on doing it!

Well that's all for now guys! Hope you all have a GREAT week =)

We are the Artist's paintbrushes

God is an artist; and we are all his paintbrushes. If we allow him to guide us freely- he will create in us a beautiful masterpiece.

This is just a quote I wrote that I thought I'd share with you all =)

Character Sketches

So the wonderful sisters Julia and Jenny at Maidens of virtue did these awesome character sketches for my book in progress I'm currently writing! Didn't they do a great job?

Here are the two characters they did for me and I hope they might make me some more characters in the near future.

Character sketch: Tess

Personality profile – strong willed, clever, and witty. Is often very curious and gets herself into trouble because of her natural curiosity.
Role in my book -- As the main Character Tess is strong willed and very curious. She is a very deep, caring person but sometimes has a hard time sharing her feelings. She is sometimes quick to judge and her spoiled lifestyle has made her a bit selfish. But when terrible things happen and her loved ones are in danger she does not hesitate to jump to their safety- no matter the cost.
Her greatest fear -- that her best friend will go to the king's army and maybe never return.

Character sketch: Alanna

Personality profile – quiet, reserved, caring, and very passionate about the wellbeing of others
Role in my book -- Alanna is one of my main characters in my book. She is Tess's closest friend. She's sweet, kind, and has a lot of responsibility weighing on her shoulders.
Personal quote: "Sometimes the things that we believe are best for us are really not. Only the future will tell."

Hope you all enjoyed this =) Thank you so much Jenny and Julia for doing this for me!

P.S. Hopefully I'll do another one of these soon.

Let go

"So I’ll stand with arms high and heart abandoned In awe of the One who gave it all So I’ll stand, my soul Lord to You surrendered All I am is Yours."

Letting go

She stood silently on an old, abandoned road, rain pouring, winds blowing, and storms brewing.
Her hair tossed back and forth, and her eyelids sparkled with raindrops, water poured off her fingertips, and her heart beat heavily in her chest.
she lifted her arms, lifting her face towards the sky.
I’m yours God. she whispered. I’m yours.
I’m letting go. I’m letting go of my life and putting it in your arms.
I trust in you. She softly muttered, I’m yours.
